Is it just me..Or has it happened to you?

Business 101 (Wants and Needs):

Today, I had one of the worst encounter with a professional at Wells Fargo Bank (somewhere in Miami). I have come to realised after my 40th, living a fulfilling, successful life, comes down to two factors: finacial security and a understanding of my self-worth. “Dias,” I say to myself, “focus on what you need and forget what others want”. As I pulled up at Wells Fargo Bank to address one of my needs, I felt motivated. A few days prior, I had received a call informing me that the Certificate of Deposit I had with the bank had matured and needed my attention. After three (3) attempts to remedy the situation, I finally spoke with someone (Yaaah!! Happy!!).

Agent: I am sorry Mr. Edmeade, your CD was automatically rolled-over.

Me: What is the rate now that it was rolled-over…For how long… and By whom?

Agent: Same rate as last year, for 11-months, by the system.

Me: Does the system know what I needed… Why would I opt for 2.7% when the rate is now 5%… Suppose I wanted 4-months instead of the 11-months, what would i do?

Agent: Well, when you signed the disclaimer, it said so?

Me: A disclaimer… Do you think anyone would elect to have an instituion do whatever they want with their finances. Correct me if I am wrong, Why would I make an appointment after a call from the bank?

Agent: I am sorry sir, there is nothing I can do.

Me: What is the penalty for breaking the maturity date….Since you are suggesting there is nothing you can do.

Agent: About $269.00

Me: I want to close the account and accept the penalty….By my calculations, I would save myself over $3,000.00 by helping you solve our problem.

After leaving with my cashiers’ check, I needed an outlet to blow off some steam. Now that it is done, I want to hear your thoughts.
